Affordable letting or moderate rent: which pays a landlord more
The simplified affordable-letting regime came into force on 1 September and exempts rent from tax altogether. But it forces the rent down to around 80% of the local median — and there is an alternative, taxed at 10%, that requires no cut at all. The sums, on a rent of €1,100 a month.
